How do you celebrate Independence Day? Any special traditions?
What's your approach to fireworks (set off your own, go to a show, watch on tv)?

How do you celebrate Independence Day? Any special traditions?
We are often travelling on the 4th and when that's the case we go with the flow of wherever we're at. When we're home we generally spend it barbequeing with family. We always make homemade ice cream.
What's your approach to fireworks (set off your own, go to a show, watch on tv)?
I like safety and quiet, and that's not always compatible with 4th of July fireworks traditions... watching a local show on tv is great for me. Mostly i'm bothered by the popular approach of drinking all day followed by setting off a bunch of fireworks. The ones which are just noise makers don't make any sense to me, but i do like the pretty, colourful displays that some people opt for.

How do you celebrate Independence Day? Any special traditions? Nope. DH and I usually work outside all day (gardening usually) and then grill something.
What's your approach to fireworks (set off your own, go to a show, watch on tv)? We ignore them to be honest. DH is pretty introverted, and doesn't like the crowds of firework shows. Our community is having their fireworks on the 1st, because having it on the 4th is too expensive I bet. Which really makes me mad, because our community charges $25 per person to see their fireworks, even though we all pay HOA dues
So we boycott them.
We don't do anything special to celebrate- usually just hang out as a family and grill something for dinner.
For fireworks, we go to the park across the street from us. From a hill there we can see two neighboring towns' fireworks displays. They are far enough away to not be too noisy and we don't have to deal with crowds.
This exactly, but this year there are no fireworks because of the fire in AZ and NM. We are celebrating with friends, and going to see the laser light show in place of fireworks. Maybe next year...
