Question about Iris.

We recently had a tree cut down, we had Iris' all around it and they pretty much got trampled on in the cutting down process.  I'm wondering if I can just weed whack the leaves and everything so they will start fresh next year because they look pretty rough right now?

  • I'd be tempted to leave the leaves alone as much as possible -- they're how the plant gets the energy to grow and flower the next year.

  • If you want them to come  back next year, I'd just leave them alone.  They're pretty hard to kill.
  • Can I borrow the question too?  My MIL planted iris in front of our step several years ago.  I haven't seen it flower in 3 years?!?  What's up with that and should I just remove it?
