Does anyone else have a monstrous hydrangea like this?

Ok, so I love my hydrangea.  But I am not entirely sure it is normal for it to be this big.

After heavy rain, it suffers from droop probably because it's so large.  I am so proud of this little guy that I wrote a blog entry about it!  You can follow the link in my signature to see the whole entry (and tell me if I am right about my pruning techniques).

I wish I had that problem!  I love hydrangeas.  I'm excited over my one bloom, ha ha.  Maybe you can cut some for the house or give them to friends and neighbors.  I would love fresh hydrangeas in the house.

Yes, I am overrun with hydrangeas. They dominate my garden. I sold 6 this year and I still have 8.

My hydrangea aren't mophead.  They're the lacecap type.  But they're huge plants and spreading.  I have one that is about twice the size of yours.  I love how they change colors as the summer progresses.

I have a hydrangea but I like to keep it small. For the last three years I've been cutting it down to the ground right before winter. By the end of the summer it is about 4 feet tall with lots of blooms. It's perfect for the place I have it planted.

yeah, mine starts blue and then the late blooms are pink and purple.

 

What do you do with them when they start to bleach out?  Leave them or cut them?

Pretty! I have nothing to add except that my Dad did the same thing once with a poison ivy vine. .
