Quincenera

HI!  On a happier note - we went to the Quincenera party that I had asked about a while ago over the weekend.  I'll post pics if I can figure out how to get them off my phone.  Stick out tongue

It was pretty cool and I really enjoyed learning about the history of the traditions.  They did the father/daughter dance, the changing of the shoes, the passing down the doll to a young girl tradition, and a "Star Dance" that I couldn't quite tell if it was a typical thing or something they came up with for this party.  The court did a couple choreographed dances which were fun to watch too. I don't know if one of the groups was family members or if they were a professional troupe but they did a couple dances from different parts of Mexico that were awesome. They had the decorated wicker-esque chairs too.

This party was actually for 2 girls - one just turned 15 and the other will be shortly but they combined them.  Their dresses were HUGE but beautiful! Way poofier than my wedding dress even.  We stayed until the dance part started.  After 3 Rhianna songs in a row that DH and I didn't know, we decided we were too old for the rest of the party and went home.  lol.
