and another post... drinks for your LO

what do you give your LO (under age 2) to drink besides water, if anything?!

Oliver doesn't drink milk so he only has water... do you give your LO diluted juices and if so, which kind (apple, orange, etc)?

i've never felt the need to give him anything besides water since juices are all sugar so curious what others do at this age (1.5 yrs old).

  • Katen (3.5) gets limited juice watered down but generally the girls only drink water. I give them milk at breakfast and dinner if they want it.

  • Neena mainly drinks water but lately I've been making fresh squeezed lemonade with honey and she LOVES it. Bags of lemons are super cheap at TJ's.

  • Sophia is a big milk drinker and otherwise only gets water.  Very occasionally we will give her a treat of extremely watered down juice.

  • Carson drinks a lot of milk, chocolate milk, water and we give him juice.  If I put it in the sippy I dilute it with water, otherwise I give him the Fruitable juice boxes we buy at Costco.  They have a serving of fruits and veggies and 1/3 less sugar than most juices and he loves them!

  • Natalie only drank milk and water until she was about 18 months.  I give her really watered down juice once a day because she loves it, but that is it.

  • G drinks mainly water and a tiny bit of soymilk. We haven't introduced juice yet and probably won't for quite awhile.

  • Olivia gets a little juice each day, maybe 4oz. We get 100% juice, which still has sugar but it makes me feel a little better. She's had more than usual as of lately with her ER visti and sore bum, I'm a sucker. Otherwise she drinks water. She gets milk at meal times if she wants it. At gma's and on Fridays at daycare they give her a little chocolate milk as a treat.

Once in a while Nicholas will get on a kick where he asks for juice, so I'll buy a bottle of 100% juice. I water it down and once it's gone, it's gone. I've bought him low-sodium veggie juice, too, which he'll drink in very small quantities, but unless I'm cooking something that'll use up the rest of the bottle, it's kind of a waste.
  • We do lots of milk, chocolate, plain, or strawberry.  He does get juice, but it's always at least half water.  We do apple, orange, just about anything.  I only do 100% juices.  He loves the pear and cranberry ciders from TJ's, which are 100% juice with spices.  He likes them warm, as well as his chocolate milk, too.  He's a lot like me that he doesn't like to drink plain water, unless it's from a super cool cup, while outside, and really hot, or from the sprinkler.  So I put enough flavoring in it to get him to drink it.

  • While we do mainly water, she gets milk with meals, and she LOVES juice, we do 'clear' juices, Ocean Spray's Peach white Cran is my favorite/ her's too. I think everything has sugar in it, except water.
