wwyd?

i have a friend who owns a petsitting business and she has a client who is closer to me so i usually petsit for this client. the client, "jane", goes out of town a lot and usually jane has her sister do the mornings and me the evenings. however recently jane's sister moved away.

jane's cats are always famished when i arrive. she keeps them on a strict diet of 1/3 cup of wet food twice a day (some people think dry is bad for cats). this time since jane's sister moved away and she can't afford to have me come twice a day, jane is having me feed them a double portion once a day (with no food for the rest of the time because you can't leave wet food out and she doesn't allow them to eat dry).

i feel really bad for the cats. you probably think that's silly. i feel like i should have offered jane a reduced rate so she could afford to have me come twice a day.

ETA: so it makes more sense.

Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.

  • If it's close enough to you and not that much of an inconvenience, why not? Otherwise, it's her problem.

i guess because we charge per visit so i'd basically be petsitting for her for free. it's about 10 or 15 minutes away plus the time there when i could be working, and the gas.

  • It's tough being nice. But even though you're trying to do the right thing for the cats, you have other priorities. Can't help them all!

  • I'm confused - does the cat owner know that you're only feeding the cats double food once a day? If so then I guess it's her problem and her that should be feeling guilty.

If she doesn't know at all, that's pretty wrong. I'd be pissed. I'm assuming she knows though, right?

LOL - no, she definitely knows. it was what she instructed me to do. i would rather go twice a day but i can understand that that gets expensive for her for a 6 day trip. it's $20 a visit or $20 a day vs. 2 visits a day at $20, or $40 a day.
