Roll Call

Is anyone else as unfortunate as me to be at work today?  I'm in the office and we're headed out of town after work.  I fear this will be a long day if no one is around to keep me company!

Re: Roll Call

  • Present.

    I'm here all day.

  • Kasa, when is your family arriving? Did you come up with a plan for entertaining them?
  • imageGRKaters:

Present, but not at (paid) work.

    It still counts Wink

  • I'm here 8-5, unless they come around and tell us we can leave at 3 like they sometimes do on a holiday weekend :-) Here's hoping!

That happens occassionally here too!  *fingers crossed*

That would be awesome.  I know no one will come tell me that, but if the boss is out this afternoon and my H can get out early, too then we'll see.

They're actually not going to be here until Sunday.  They're spending today and tomorrow in Chicago because they had to drop some furniture off for my brother.

I think I have a plan.  We're going to have some people over on Sunday for a little BBQ.  Then on the Fourth, I think we're going to go to Grand Haven in the morning and spend a few hours there.  Then we'll go downtown GR in the evening, maybe catch the parade, but definitely do the fireworks.

The next thing I need to do is figure out food.

That sounds really nice.  And it's cool that you get some time during the first half of the weekend to prepare for their visit.

Yeah, that really helps.  Usually before company arrives for the weekend, I'm spending Thursday evenings frantically buying groceries, making food, and cleaning my house.

I'm doing the same thing. (Actually, including hosting and trying to convince my ILs to go to the GR fireworks on the 4th.)

  • I am in and out today.  I have a dr appt later and I'll be on in between massive house cleaning sessions.  (My parents are coming tomorrow)

Yup, that is what I am doing today!  Fun.

  • I am here. My boss's idea of getting out early is like 15 minutes early but maybe he'll be nicer today or will have to work the whole day. I plan on that anyways.

  • Kasa, I love the Kate fashion blog you posted the other day!  It is surprising how much she rewears pieces and how long she keeps things.  It makes her seem very normal and down to earth.  It also makes me feel better that I do the same thing.

I'm loving it too.  I feel like her style is very accessible, which is nice.

And, honestly, I melt a little each time they show a picture of the Duke and Duchess together.  Embarrassed

  • I love how happy the Duke looks with her.  To me, that is just so beautiful.

Her style is accessible, and while I like it, I almost think it is a bit too accessible.  I like it when celebrities are a bit more fashion forward.  I know the comparisons abound and probably get very old, but I think Diana was a bit more risky in her fashion choices and I liked that.  So far, it's hard to imagine any of Kate's wardrobe choices being truly *iconic*.

  • I'm here and I work today and tomorrow. Tomorrow our raises go into effect!

She really seems to embrace her "common" roots, though, and seems to want to continue that lifestyle as much as possible given the circumstances -- living on their own without servants and whatnot.  Her style seems to reflect that.  But, I think it may very well evolve and she'll become a little more daring with her choices.

Did you ever see this picture, that circulated the Internet?  It's cute.

I did see the pictures from Cinderella.  So cute!  I do like that she still does her own shopping and won't accept free items from designers (although I'm not sure if that's because of ethical rules or a personal preference).  They definitely seem as normal as can be and that's cool.  I agree that it will be interesting to see how her style evolves over time.

  • Here, but like every other day...intermittently. Darn baby needing attention.Wink

  • I am here as well.  Didn't get here till 11 and hopefully, but doubtfully, leaving early.
  • I have two big vents:

First, I am working on a project for a customer that drives me CRAZY!  Everything he gives me is in chaos and so time consuming.  I need to make some labels for him and some of the stuff is reprints of labels that I've already made and some of it is stuff that is totally new labels, but it's not organized that way.  So I need to sort through it all to figure out I just need to reprint and what I need to create from scratch.  Nothing ever has part numbers either, so there's that as well.

Secondly, I sent over a huge expense report earlier this week to my boss.  It's still not signed.  I am horrible at communicating with him, particularly on the topic of expense reports.  Ugh.

Unorganized people are so difficult to work with.  It sucks.

Hope you get a sign-off on your expense report very soon!
