camping recs?

One of my family members is looking to go camping somewhere close by and is looking for recommendations. She wants it to be no further than 2 hours from Baltimore. I'm no help because we usually go a little further than that. So any suggestions? She did say if it was close to the water that would be a bonus.

We go here and really enjoy it.  They just added slides and a little kiddie area to the pool and you can dock your boat and go out on the bay.  It's somewhere between 2 and 3 hours from Carroll County.

  • Not near the water but they have a pool. Round Top Campground in Gettysburg. There is also Little Drummer Boy which is near Gettysburg as well. We go to Round Top. It is about an hour and a half from the Rosedale area of Baltimore.

We didn't camp here but we rented a cabin nearby and went there. It's a beautiful place and there's so much to do around Deep Creek.

  • rambling pines right off 70 is nice. It is only about 45 minutes from Essex. They have a pool, huge bounce thing, pond, mini golf, hay rides, activities.    Another nice one is Killans pond in DE. They have a small very nice water park. It is $2 admission to get in to the water park. They also have a pond and trails. That is about 5 minutes from the DE state fair grounds so I would guess it it more like 2hrs 15 mins or so from Baltimore.

I used to go here with the camping club my parents were in when i was younger. That is a nice campground. I have some very "fond" memories of there! lol And some not to "fond" ones. I was on the swings once and fell off backwards and hit my head on the ground. needless to say it hurt! BAD! One of the members of the club kept an eye on me to make sure i didnt have a concussion. I think i did. All i wanted to do after that was sleep. She was like No! Stay AWAKE!
