i scored a cedar chest for $20. it needs to be painted and i talked the guy down from $25. it's in great condition otherwise. i've been looking for something like this for a long time to put at the end of my bed and keep sheets, etc. in.
this time i'm going to paint it with regular paint. i used spray paint for my last project like this and it looked horrible.

Re: thrift store score!
Awesome! The thrift store closest to our house never has ANYthing good. and when they do, they have it waaaaay overpriced - like so much that talking them down still wouldn't be worth it. Boo! I spent months looking for a secondhand dresser for Gabby's room that I could repaint, but never had luck. My parents just ended up buying her a new dresser.
Take before and after pics!! I mean to do that with the armoire (sp?) we repainted for her room as well and didn't.
Good job!! I want to see pics!
My mom bought be a cedar chest for one of my birthdays. It is really nice. Its out in our garage though b/c we dont have room for it in the house right now.
okay i'll take pics! i know what you mean about overpriced thrift stores. the one for the humane society i am affiliated with it RE-DIC. i'm like, seriously? i mean i know it's for charity but guess what...they all are.
this one however is awesome because they don't have room for furniture so when stuff comes in they leave it next to the drop off room to see if anyone wants it. i went to drop off some stuff and this woman had just taken it out of her car. i asked the guy to price it for me and he said $25 so i asked him if he would take $20. i'm kicking myself though because there were a couple of other things like an end table and a kids table and chairs that i should have asked about last week. i'm going to start driving by there. it's funny that they say no furniture and people still drop it off.
High five to you!
