Wine people

I'm not a big wine person but I am having my Stella & Dot launch party tomorrow and want to serve wine. This is what we have in our house:

Cabernet Sauvignon

Merlot

Zinfandel

Malbec  - I have never heard of this

Sauvignon Blanc

Chardonnay

Gewurtztraminer - I have never heard of this

Muscat Canelli - ??

Moscato

What do you recommend I serve? I haven't even heard of some of these types of wine. These were gifts to us b/c we don't buy wine. We like the hard stuff. ;)

Re: Wine people

  • What foods are you serving and how many people are you expecting?

  • I'd probably go for a couple of reds and a couple of whites for variety. To try and appeal to a lot of people, I'd probably pick the sauvignon blanc and chardonnay for the whites, and the cab and zin for the reds.

If it's going to be really hot where you are, I *might* go for a third white (since it's chilled and kinda refreshing) and add the gewurztraminer.

  • The Gewurtz, Muscat/Moscato (same thing) are all sweet.  Muscat can be a table wine or a dessert wine depending on what you have.  Gewurtz are great on a hot day, imo, as they tend to be fairly light.

Were it me serving to people whose tastes I don't know and with a random sampling of foods, I'd pick the Cab, Zin, Chard, and Gewurtz to start.

    This.

I Love malbecs. They're good with pasta.
