Stupid Question- Another CA topic

Ashlee mentioned the civil suit, but is there anything else they can try her for? She confessed to an accidental drowning and cover up. Even though I think this case has left us all a bit sick and we probably agree this story is ***, can they bring any charges for this? We need a lawyer on this board.

ETA: My friend who's a cop says no, they cannot get her for anything else surrounding this death. Fabulous. I figured this was the case, but what another lovely flaw in our system.

Re: Stupid Question- Another CA topic

  • No, they can't get her Casey on anything else in this case(the whole double jeopardy thing.) I just wonder where is she going to live, and who is ever going to believe anything she says. I can see Baez with the book/movie deals, maybe she will be asked to pose nude....she was the last person with that precious little baby...
  • FWIW, I don't think it will be long before she gets into more legal trouble.  Maybe not violent, but drugs, more check forgery, etc.  These are definitely not her last nights in jail ever IMO.

Yeah, I thought of the whole double jeopardy thing, but was thinking that it was that you can't be tried for the same crime twice...and I was thinking that murder -vs- neglect/accidental drowning would be different. I guess it will still be the death of Caylee though, making it the same thing. I don't know, it's just so sad and sickening.

LB, I agree. I'm hoping the judge will at least order some intense therapy, but she won't ever be a positive addition to society.

  • It's the double jeopardy principle - can't be tried twice for the same crime. The crime was the death of Caylee Anthony & she's been proved innocent despite the cover-up.

ITA with LB about Casey getting in trouble again.
