Steam Mops?!

thx for all your tips ladies!

i wanted to get your opinions on steam mops. over the weekend dh & i bought the shark steam pocket mop, we have woods floors and seeing how this only uses water to clean the floors i figured its 'green.' what are your thoughts?!?

We have one and love it!  Our very old (c1900) house has a variety of floors (linoleum, hardwood and painted wood) and it works perfectly on all of them.  We've also used it to spot clean the woven wool rug (we have a cat and a dog) and to sanitize things (trash can, litter box).  We (i) clean our floors way more often than before b/c it is faster, doesn't make a mess, dries faster and seems to get the floor cleaner than using a mop.  Way better on the stairs, too!

All of our floors are either hardwood or tile and I LOVE my steam mop.  I waited a long time to get one because I was skeptical, but it really does work well, so I am glad I got it.

I had the Shark and returned it. So did my mom (twice) because hers broke. Mine just didn't do the job. I got a Haan Slim steam cleaner and it seems to do pretty well. I have a ton of friends that swear by a Eureka steam cleaner too.

Has anyone had to clean out their steam mop? I got my moms and it worked once... Now water doesn't come out of it. I tried some vinegar to clean it out (I guess get rid of lime build up) but it hasn't worked. I want to be able to mop again!Thanks

Seems like the 'green' way to go to me as well!  My coworker swears by the Eureka one, and after reading the online reviews, it's the one I'm buying!  GL

We have the Shark and it works fairly well.  It doesn't seem to deep clean as well as I'd like, but it does the job.  Sometimes I carry my vinegar/water spray bottle and spray as I go and that helps.
