I never have time to get on anymore! Boooo to a teething/sick/clingy baby. He is peacefully sleeping...so I had to get on and share my funny story.....
As mentioned, Noah has been having a rough time of it these last few weeks...it has been quite an adventure for sure. Lack of sleep is in full force, and at 36 I am getting too old for that! So despiration for sleep is getting the best of me this last week or so. N has been getting up and staying up fussy for HOURS in the middle of the night, so the last few nights I have brought him into the guest bed with me when he has woken up. Well, two nights ago I literally got minutes of sleep since N was tossing and turning the ENTIRE night. So last night I thought...I HAVE to get him to sleep in his own bed. At 2:30 am...while so tired I can barely stand up...I thought "I KNOW!!! I can get into his crib with HIM!" So that is what I proceeded to do. My first thought was...I am so glad I am little (I am only 5'1" and about 105...so thankfully the crib could hold me). My second thought was...as I start laughing at myself is "I seriously have lost it!". I had visions of my DH turning to look at the video monitor, freaking out that a crazy person was in Noah's crib with him and then realize it was just me and have plans to call Pine Rest in the morning. BUT, I must say my Spider Woman abilitites were amazing as I got out of the crib without waking him. ![]()
So moms...if you want to share any crazy things you have done in moments of despiration...please share. It will make me feel like I am less of a freak. ![]()
Re: I think DH is going to send me to the looney bin!:)
I cannot stop laughing at myself and visions of how my DH would react if he saw it! My friend asked if I got any pics. That would have been awesome....
Raises hand.......meeee! I've slept in the girls crib before. My husband thought I was nuts too. He was worried about the strenght of the bed, but as I pointed out once we turn it into a toddler bed, there will be times I will be sitting on the bed with her to read books and snuggle at night. Plus I'm about the same size as you.
Sorry you are having issue with the Noah. Hopefully he gets back on track soon. There were times with the girls I had to let them cry it out. I know it drove my husband crazy, but my policy was that if they didn't want lay down, but refuse to let me hold them to comfort them, then I was going to let them cry it out for 5 minutes. Usually they did that when they were beyond the point of exhaustion and didn't know how to handle it.
Oh my goodness, I feel like I could have just written this. I let N CIO as well and my husband hates it. Glad to know you went through it too, it helps to have someone understand the insanity!
My thought were 1-2 nights of crying or bad nights were a fluke . Something was off and maybe they didn't feel good or were teething. Night 3 was starting a slippery slope to becoming a bad habit and after night 3 you were setting up a new routine (but not a good one).
I always check in the when they would cry, make sure everything was ok, and tried to comfort them. With DD 1, all it would take is a quick back rub or tucking back in, but DD2 had more issues about waking up in the middle night and then not wanting to be consoled. Usually all it took was 5 -15 minutes and she would be out.
I agree!!! It's so hard to think like that when you're exhausted, though. At that point, you'll do anything to just SLEEP.
Dude I've slept in the crib with ben more times than I can count. I was desperate like you and it worked for a while. I've been bugging DH about getting Ben a bigger bed now, since some nights I end up falling asleep in the tiny toddler bed and OY is that uncomfortable.
Us mom's will do crazy things
I orginally read your message at 3am in the morning after Ian was waking up for a feeding. I'm impressed that you can fit in his crib! Good luck! I also laughed because I am 35 so I feel your pain.
Ian is getting a referral to Mary Freebed. We are getting his xray done today so I might hit you up in the coming weeks for advice.
