I need some serious [computer] help!

My computer keeps freezing on me! I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, running Vista. At least once a day, my computer literally freezes. I can still move the mouse, and the CD drive will eject, but I can't do anything else. It's almost like the content of the screen freezes and doesn't connect with the computer. Also, it is not that I am letting it sit for long periods, it happens when I am working on something or in the middle of something (I don't even leave it unattended anymore; if I walk away I close it). I have let it sit for over 10 minutes waiting for it to come back, but I get nothing (the time doesn't even change on the screen). Ctrl, alt, del doesn't work. I hold down the escape button. NOTHING! I just hold down the power button, turn it off then back on. Anyone else had these issues, and a solution? I'm not a computer genius, but I'm pretty savvy. Hopefully someone can help me!

Right at 2 years old.

That's weird. My Dell gave me no problems until it was 4.5 years old.  I'd take it in somewhere --I can't think of what the problem could be.

Sounds like the sort of thing that a roll back might solve.

I honestly don't remember when it started. It has been doing it for a while now, but just happening more frequently now. What is a roll back?

It basically reverts your computer to the last (stable) configuration with respect to installs, drivers, registry values.  If something has gotten corrupted, this is normally quite effective.  If you're not familiar with the process, it may be sensible to get a techie friend to help though.
