laminate flooring-where to buy/who to install?
We are looking into doing laminate wood flooring in most of our main level. We don't want hardwood because we have a lab and I'm afraid her claws will dig into the wood when she runs through the house.
Anyway, where would/have you bought laminate or hardwood floors? And did they install them for you? Any idea on the cost per square foot for installation?
Mommy of 3!

Re: laminate flooring-where to buy/who to install?
We had laminate put in the kitchen/dining room this past March, and we also did tile in the bathrooms. We used Flooring America and I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER use them again. It was the single worst experience in my life.
So, I don't have a rec on who TO use but for sure DO NOT use Flooring America!
We just bought ours from Menards, and installed it ourselves.
Same with my parents, but they went to Home Depot. And installed themselves.
We bought ours at Lowes and also installed it ourselves. If you are handy (or know a couple of people who are), it's really easy to do and much cheaper than paying for install.
ETA: FYI, laminate also scratches easily.
My husband works at Lumber Liquidators in Urbandale. They will beat an competitor's price on flooring, and have installers available.
ETA: They have laminate, hardwood, bamboo, engineered, cork, etc.
We were close to getting hardwood from lumber liquidators but went online instead because we fell in love with a certain kind. However the price for their installation was the same as the price our contractor's guy quoted so it's a decent deal. I've heard good things about their installation.
I've also had unhappy experiences with flooring america and was not happy with flooring gallery either. The guy we used at flooring gallery messed up pretty much everything with our carpeting. They even carpeted things they weren't supposed to and then tried to charge us for it. Thank goodness we saved all email correspondence and quotes.
We just bought flooring from Menards to install ourselves. Menards does not offer installation but they had the best price, even compared to LL. We got the snap lock style that does not require nail or glue and for the most part, should install in one day.
I know lowes offers installation for $90 something, but their flooring was quite a bit more than menards.
I can TOTALLY relate to not wanting your DH to install due to time.
I would price check your flooring at a few different places, then go with the cheapest install price.
