drywall guy is late again.

He was supposed to come between 9-10 for an estimate.  At 10:15 we called and said we had to go out, would be home later.  We agreed we would call when we were on our way home and he would come out later tonight. We called at 2, said we'd be home at 2:30.  Great, he'll come between 4-5.   Now it's 5:15 and I've been sitting here for an hour waiting.  Problem is I don't know any other drywall guys.  Do you?  I've got some work.  If this guy shows I'll probably use him, but geez.

Re: drywall guy is late again.

  • No suggestions for you, but that stinks. I'd try to find someone else if he doesn't come today.

  • Yay he showed!  He said $300.  We would've paid $500.  Nice!

  • I guess it was worth the wait then.

  • Eh, he was stinky like cigarettes and late twice (flat tire first time, and truck problems second time) but whateves... I just want my drywall to look nice inside my nice new skylights.

Eh, he was stinky like cigarettes

This is such a pet peeve of mine that H knows I won't work with anyone that reeks of cigarettes.  I walked away from a salesman when we were car shopping a couple of years ago because he lit up while he was showing us the lot.  He had this confused look on his face until my husband explained that I absolutely hate smoking and that because he chose to light up in front of us he was never going to make a sale with us.

  • Ew, this guy seriously blows.  He said $300 for 3 holes and 2 skylight repairs. Perfect.  I told H and H called him to set up an appt to do the work and told him we have one more hole to make 4 total.  He said one more hole would make it$350.  We said that's fine, nevermind, we will just keep it at the 3, when can you do the work?  We agreed he will be here 9am today.  So we get up and make the bed, get everything ready, and at 9:30 he called and said he's heading out now from NPR and will be here in about an hour.  He said it was raining cats and dogs out there.  We think he should have called sooner.  So H told him he just wants him to do the skylights and not the 3 holes, how much for that?  Guy said $250.  If he would have said $200 we would have been fine, but at least an hour and a half late and an attitude.  Besides, he had so many "truck problems" yesterday who's to say he will ever make it once he heads out.   H said he doesn't understand the rain excuse or his pricing, he is going to pass on the service, thank  you anyway.  And the dude argued and argued before saying forget it and hanging up.  Ghesh.  We will do the work ourselves.  Forget drywall guys.
