HHC/WLC How are you rewarding yourself?

No matter how you look at it, deciding to participate in a challenge to be healthier this summer is something wonderful you are doing for YOU! Everyone responds well to positive reinforcement, but intrinsic motivation is always the key to success! How are you rewarding yourself for success and participation? If you haven't thought about this, what can you do nice for yourself?

Last night I was looking for some wicking Tshirts at Walmart because I sweat too much (good thing) for 100% cotton during the summer. I found a cute pair of capris for exercising -- I didn't neeeeeeeed them, but they were on sale and I will enjoy looking put together for Zumba tonight! I also ordered myself a Bondi Band.

Obviously, feeling good is the best reward, but how do you keep yourself going and motivated?

Re: HHC/WLC How are you rewarding yourself?

  • I've been thinking about rewards lately. There are a bunch of little things I've found at Sephora that I definitely don't need but I really want. I figure making them rewards for getting out there and getting it done will help me win the battle with myself in the morning whether to get up and run or sleep an extra 30 minnutes.

Each month that I stick to my training schedule (just running every other day for now) I get to treat myself to an item from my wish list.

I do have a final goal in mind and the reward for reaching it is a makeover (haircut/color, makeup, new outfit including shoes) and an evening downtown with DH.

  • I haven't done any mini-rewards so far.  I want a pedi, but I can't b/c of the massive bruise (finally disappearing) on my foot.  When the challenge ends, I'll be hoping to buy some "back to school" clothes in a smaller size, since all of my fall/winter clothes are size 12.  I'd like to be a 10 or below at that point. :)

  • I think that buying smaller clothes is the best reward! I'm having my mom help me take in a few of my dress pants because I don't want to buy new everything, but it's fun picking out a few new items here and there too.
