I need help with my complexion. Prior to having a baby I had pretty decent skin and during pregnancy my skin was A-MAZING! Then my face revolted. Apparently my skin is not excited for motherhood. My face is now oily all the time but stronger cleansers that control oil make my face dry and splotchy and red and painful. My clairsonic worked like a dream for about a month and then made no difference regardless of which cleanser I paired it with. Ive tried pricier brands like Arbonne and the clairsonic cleanser, Ive tested out over the counter teeny bopper brands like clean and clear and everything in between. Im now working with the Belli brand thats made for pregnant women under the advice that it may also help my post partum skin. Anyone have good recommendations to turn my pizza face into a porcelain doll? Or even just an improvement of sorts?!

Re: Pizza Face
I've always had trouble with my skin until I switched to an oil cleanser (I use DHC Deep Cleansing Oil). I read about this on makeupalley.com and decided to give it a try. I felt that harsher cleansers always made my face worse. This stuff is amazing! You rub it into your face dry (no water) and then rinse with water. I do this at night, followed by a moisturizer and Retin-A twice a week.
In the morning I use DHC's mild soap followed by CeraVe moisturizer.
I realize everyone's skin is different, but DHC has done wonders for me. A few of my friends and my mom now use it, too. And if you end up getting it and hating it, I'll totally buy it from you.

I go with the 'less is more' approach, especially because I have sensitive skin that can get oily. One of the products you must be using is stripping away too much oil, causing your skin to revolt and overproduce.
Try any gentle cleanser - I use Oil of Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin. (In the winter, I actually use Pond's Cold Cream because it doesn't dry out my skin. ) Then use a small amount of light, oil-free moisturizer. I only wash my face at night (and moisturize) to remove my makeup and just rinse with water in the morning and then put a small amount of SPF moisturizer on.
Make sure anything you use doesn't have some form of alcohol in the ingredients - this will dry your face out. And stay away from toners and scrubs.
It may take at least a week for your skin to balance itself.

This is intriguing. Praytell, why do you use the oil cleanser at night and the soap in the morning? Is there a method to this madness? This will render my clarisonic useless, but might be worth it anyway.
This is good to know. I never know how long to give something a try before I should quit and move on to the next option. I appreciate your input and totally agree with the less is more approach but I started down that road and it hasnt seemed to work for me. I have really deep pores so I think the gentle cleansers just dont get down far enough to pull the dirt, makeup, dead skin etc out of my pores effectively. Or maybe I need to use a makeup remover first? I dont know.
You could use the oil cleanser at night & in the morning, I just started doing it this way for some reason. I love the oil one at night b/c your makeup basically melts off your face. It's a great makeup remover. Some people use the oil and then the mild soap afterwards to get it extra clean, but I haven't felt the need to do that.
When my non-pg related adult acne was getting out of control, I had to go get meds from a dermotologist. Best thing I ever did. It cleared up almost immediately. Damned if I can remember the meds though.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I do know that while Proactiv works, it's one of those things where as soon as you stop using it, all your stuff comes back with a vengeance.
My derm gave me a script for Epiduo topical. I am supposed to apply a thin layer all over my face (and chest since that has been breaking out too) a couple nights a week. It really worked for me.
Now that I am off BC, my face has been an oil slick. And while I was PG for 7 short weeks, my face was worse than it ever was. Almost immediately after I had my m/c, the oil went down. I am using the Olay version of Clarisonic with Neutrogena deep clean every night and in the morning Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. It has helped enough that I will keep at it until I empty everything.
