Birthday gift help!!!!

Ok?so the H?s birthday is coming up really soon and I am stuck as to what to get him. Normally this would not be an issue since he really likes grilling, great wine and other fun outdoor stuff however this birthday has me stumped.  He will be leaving soon and will not be back for a long time so I don?t want to say ?Happy Birthday here is a really cool?ABC gift sorry you won?t be able to use it until XYZ time.?  I did some checking online and most everything has to do with children which we do not have any yet.

He is the type that already has an iPod, cool GPS watch and etc.  I am planning on doing a deployment package for him with everyday stuff that he can use and I really don?t want to do that for his birthday?I mean that kind of sucks.

Any suggestions would help out a lot!  I am just having a block.  Thanks

Re: Birthday gift help!!!!

  • Maybe you can spring for a nice weekend getaway somewhere to have some time before he leaves.

  • I have three totally different suggestions, since I have NO idea which your hubby might prefer:

    1. Buy him  a gadget of some sort that he could use for entertainment while he is away. Is he into video games at all? MH is (unfortunately, lol), and he about cried when I bought him a Nintendo 3DS as a gift. (Nerd.)

    2. My sister once bought her husband a bottle of really nice scotch (his drink of choice), and told him that it was for celebrating all of life's accomplishments. They keep it locked in their garage, and every time something really big happens, he goes out by himself and takes a shot (for example, he took one when they bought their first home). I thought that was so neat, and really thoughtful.

    3. Did you ever see "Varsity Blues"? Whipped cream boobies. 'Nuff said.

Hahaha, I'm totally kidding on that last one. Kind of.

Thanks all for the suggestions.  We are going to HHI for a week so I might think of something during that week.  That is a great idea.  I will gladly take as many as I can get.  I think the H would pass out on this one and then what fun would that be...HAAAA Big Smile

  • I took H to a brewery for his birthday.  He loved it.  One of his friend's and his girlfriend came with us.  We had a blast.

For my birthday we are doing a wine thing I think.  If you live in the SC/NC area there is a zoo i know of that is doing a brewery thing in August let me know and I can PM you the info.

  • I bought DH one of these for Christmas.  I got the keychain, but there is soo many options from the site.  He really loves it!

  • DH is leaving soon too and just had a birthday. I got him a set of gun metal dog tags with special messages engraved in them. I thought they'd be nice for him to take with him. He can look at them and read them and know that I'm thinking about him.
  • ^^ I like the above suggestion!

I also wanted to mention a St. Michael medallion, for while he is deployed. My mom got my husband one just before his first deployment, and even though DH is not Catholic, he loved it! He tells my mom time and time again how much he appreciates her "crazy Catholic prayer," and will tell anyone who asks that St. Michael saved his butt, lol.
