Dress Help

Hopefully yall are around to answer this before I leave work for the day. My ten year High School reunion (yikes) is in August. Its a casual affair, indoor/outdoor venue. What do you think of this dress, and what color. Blue or purple? The reviews say it is running a size larger so I'd get an xs, and I was going to get a petitie. But the purple there isn't a petitite in xs. I'm 5' you think I need petitie at ON?

Re: Dress Help

  • I think it's a cute dress. I would go with the purple cause it seems more dressy. I don't know about all the petitie stuff sorry, I would say from the length it would be ok with a little bit longer if that ended up happening.
  • I could probably get it altered if its too long. My mom sews

  • Cute! I like the blue.

  • I like the blue one also.  Very cute dress.

  • It's cute.  I would get the blue, because the purple for some reason makes the dress look really young - as in for a teenager - IMHO.  :)

Also, I think I would go ahead and get it - petite or not.  I end up having to hem everything anyway.  So, just plan on having to get it hemmed.  :)

What shoes were you planning to wear?  And jewelry?

And no worries, this summer is my ten year, too.

  • They are both really cute, but I think I prefer the purple.  As for going petite at ON, it all depends on the piece of clothing itself.  I wear petite (I'm 5'2") in pants and dresses, but sometimes tops vary.  I say go for it if you think it will be easy to get it altered.

  • Very cute!  I actually really like both colors... I'd say, if you think it'll need to be altered, you can try the petite and maybe not have to alter it.... or, Idk about their return policy, but maybe you can order both (the blue regular, and purple petite) and return the one you don't want?

No idea on accessories.  I almost always wear the diamond solitare necklace DH gave me.

This is just me, but I would probably wear a fun bracelet and earrings with that dress. The bow and the ruffles already give it a lot going on in the middle section, so I would just pair it with some fun earrings and bracelet and call it a day.

    But, that's just my opinion.

If you want to go simple, your diamond necklace would be lovely as well.

  • Ditto Summer.  You could do a fun bracelet or a stack of bangles.

Also, I wouldn't wear a black shoe, unless it was strappy.

I was thinking a neutral color shoe. But, I don't know. That's why I didn't comment on the shoes. I was contemplating what I would pair with that dress.

I would wear the blue, and I have a super fun pair of navy heels I would probably wear. But the purple, I don't know.

    What would you wear Lacey?

  • I think a navy shoe would look good with the blue dress.  I have a pair of shoes that are predominantly purple, but have a few other pattern colors.  I would wear those with the purple dress.  Mixing patterns is really in right now - and although I'm not brave enough to mix one pattern top with another pattern bottom, a dress and shoe would be no problem for me.

What do you think about a nude shoe?  Nude shoes are a classic (not trendy - so they'll always be 'in style').  I think they would keep the look 'light' and would elongate your legs.  :)  I wouldn't order nude shoes online, though.  You want to make sure the nude color (there's different nudes, yes) compliments your skin tone.  I just bought some nude bootie heels at DSW and they had a plethora of nude shoes to choose from, so you might go there.  That is, of course, if you want a nude shoe.

I think a nude would look good, and would be easy especially if you don't want to try being bold with a purple or navy/blue shoe. I wouldn't do black either, but that's just my opinion.

I have several pair of nude shoes, in a couple different colors and you're right there are a lot of different shades of nude. I actually have a "metallic" nude mary-jane heel that would look good with the purple now that I think about it. But that would depend a lot on the accessories.

What about a clutch, did you plan on using a clutch?

  • Hey girls....Sorry I have been out all day. I do have a pair of nude heels, close toe, I have been wanting some open toe. And I probably wouldn't even bring in a purse of any sort. Don't want to keep up with anything, so I'll make DH keep my stuff in his pockets hehe.. I have a feeling its a casual thing. Indoor/outdoor venue with a bar.
