what kind of bushes to plant

Anyone have any ideas on what type of bush to plant on side of house? I am looking for something  with small flowers and doesn't grow too tall!  I  have seen  a pretty  small  bush with small yellow flowers  which I  liked..Any ideas on what it could be?  The side i am looking to plant gets sun most of day. TIA

  • Depends on where you live.  The first thing that came to mind when you described that was a potentilla, which is also a low-water plant, but it also depends on your climate.

My first thought was Spirea.  They come in a variety of colors. Yellow being one and are small yellow flowers. There are many varieties.

I also recommend going up to the homeowner, complimenting them on their gardening and the lovely plant you are admiring and asking them what it is.  I've not only gotten my answer, but I end up learning so much more from them. Most gardeners with beautiful yards are friendly and love to talk about their yards.

I have never seen a yellow blooming Spirea, and didn't know such a thing existed. Searched & still can't find one. Link?

Oop. You're correct. My mistake! I had the yellow foliage and white flower variety in mind.
