vitamins for LO

what vitamins do you give your LO and at what age did you start giving them?  Thanks!

Re: vitamins for LO

  • Brogan gets the toddler flinstone chewable and has since he turned 2...right around the time he got really picky and I felt he was going to turn into a nutritionless carb.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • the gummy ones - I got a huge bottle at Costco.  I think we started around age 2 when the pedi recommended.
    Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers
  • Just a disclaimer that I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to vitamins/supplements - but my kids get (daily): Organic/Gluten Free Multivitamin, Cod Liver Oil (for DHA), Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc Supplement, Vitamin C Gummies and a Probiotic.

We started once they stopped drinking formula.

  • At our Dr's appt yesterday the Dr said that we should start giving her 1/2 a flinstone vitamin daily around 18 months.

How do you get them to take these if they aren't in a liquid form, and they may still have issues with chewing things without choking?  Are they available in liquid form?  Or, do they take them fine (as in a 17 month old)?

  • The Cod Liver Oil, Calc/Mag/Zinc Supp and Probioic get mixed in their morning smoothie/juice/water.  Both my kiddos (15 mos and 27 mos) chew fine - but Campbell's does have an Organic/Gluten Free multi-vitamin in liquid form, if you're concerned.  HTH!

  • I started giving C a gummy multi-vitamin as soon as he could chew them and swallow them (7-9 months?).  We started with one half each day, then at a year went up to a whole vitamin a day.
