Tacky or no? What do you think?
Re: Booze at a kid's party?
Friend party? I think tacky unless it's friends of the parents.
Family party ? I think it's a requirement.
our families don't really drink, so i could skip it and no one would know.
we went to a bunch of neighborhood parties last year and there was always beer. so i got some for ava's bday since it was in our yard and we invited a lot of neighbors. i had almost all of it leftover.
i am skipping it this year - mostly water, juice boxes for kids and whatever adults like them, and a few sodas.
i don't think it's tacky when it's a house party type thing. i'd think it would be weird to serve it at tumble bee.
Dude, if they served booze at Tumble Bee or Screaming Parties I might take Mini to more of them. LOL
Yup- on Saturday, our coolers will be stocked with both Capri Sun and booze!
See, that's the thing. This is the first party for Mini that is not a family party with a couple of friends sprinkled in. If it was just family or family plus a couple of friends we'd have signature drinks, beer, etc. I don't know some of her friends' parents very well so I'm not sure what "regular" people think. I will have over a dozen little girls screaming at each other in my yard. Maybe I won't serve drinks during the party, but I'm sure as hell gonna need some afterwards.
Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
oooh - count me in! just pm me the date and time and i'll be there ready for a coconut cup and umbrella! i also like a little fruit skewered on that umbrella please.
What size coconut bra will you need?
lucky for you, I'm probably the same size as Mini. I don't think its tacky - or maybe make virgin daqueris
HUGE! My nursing bras are 34Gs and I'm pretty sure coconuts are not naturally as freakish as my coconuts are. There you go, HV nesties - some TMI from yours truly.
the terrible part about these ginormous boobs is that the tire around my waist is a good competitor, so you can't really tell how well-endowed I am. a total loss.
maybe "tire" is the wrong description. Ava asked me if we were having another baby
it's more like a 5-6mos bump.

Hahahahahaha!
ITA with this. Cute fruity drinks like you described I believe are more than acceptable (as well as beer).
I agree....family party= booze
Little friends birthday party= no booze
I think if it's a friend party = no booze. A family party with just a couple close friends = booze. I guess the line would be once they're in school and the parties now include kids (and their parents) that you don't really know.
Yup, this is exactly where we're at. Meet me at the crossroad, crossroad, crossroad.... LOL
Always missing my Mommy (1954-2010) and Daddy (1943-2012)

Welcomed our little miracle 5/7/12
Maybe just have something alcoholic in your cup?
Although if the parents are staying at the party I don't see how a little wine or cocktail on the side would hurt... I'm a boozaholic tho and don't have kids sooo take my opinion with a grain of salt
her friends and their parents only- no booze.
mixed company - a little booze
all your friends, some of her friends and their parents and family - have a bar if you want
i sorta agree with melanie's previous post, but hey if it's a pool party and all and it's summer- i dont think i would think it's weird if the hostess had some adult drinks. i would actually think it's cool. the interesting bit is going to be to see what parent goes for it first!
This...especially if you don't know all of the parents, I'd do some mock-tails and stash a bottle of rum inside to help yourself out.

Yeah, I know the parents but I don't *know* all of them. I do know all of the kids but serving them alcohol is frowned upon. LOL
So, it is decided, no booze for her birthday.
