Best Date Night Restaurant

I've lived here a year. H has lived here for 2 years. For the past year, we didn't have a whole lot of money for dates with the expense of moving me here from North Carolina and paying for the wedding. Now that the wedding is over, we're ready to go out more often. Any suggestions? We would prefer something that's not a chain. We love them (TGIFriday's is a fave) but are looking for something unique to SD.

Thanks!

Re: Best Date Night Restaurant

  • I'm still pretty new to the area, but one restaurant I remember having great food was in the Historic Old San Diego area. It's a mexican place called Cafe Coyote, but it may be too loud of an environment for a date night (depending on  your idea of a date night).  I use Yelp a lot for advice.  Sorry can't be of more help :0)
  • Peohe's in Coronado has great ambiance for date night, and it's right on the bay so there's a nice view.

Also, check out Hotel Del Coronado, there are restaurants there and the place is like a resort, great for walking around (there's even a bar there that has live music).

For a day date, I highly recommend Sunday brunch at the Catamaran in Mission beach.. reserve a table outside! It's right on the bay. Endless mimosas and great buffet.

And lastly, there's El Camino in LIttle Italy and South Park. Little restaurant, mexican food. Great ambiance! It's a different place but we love it!! Drinks come in glass boots, and interior design in the restaurant is very eccentric.

Also, definitely check yelp! There are soooo many great places in San Diego (I just listed my personal faves).

  • Thanks for the suggestions!

  • My husband and I looooove a little restaurant in Downtown La Mesa called Gio's.  It's only a few years old.  It's moderately priced, but their sangria is awesome!  They have a nice indoor area and a large garden patio, perfect for romantic dates!

  • If you're looking for something romantic try Old Venice in Point Loma!

Good middle eastern food on Clairemont Mesa is Aladdin's. Try their chicken salad (not the chopped one), yum! everything on the menu is good though.

If you're a sushi eater try Sushi Deli in Hillcrest or downtown.

The absolute best sandwiches - Rubicon Deli on Mission Blvd in Mission Beach.

If you're into weekly deals and the bar scenes at all (I work in PB so a lot of the places I go are around there) Mondays -Surfside Sushi 70% Off, Tuesdays - Taco Tuesday at Freds (Old Town or PB) or PB Bar and Grill, Wednesdays - Wings Wednesday at Bub's Dive Bar (best wings ever!). Other good happy hours: C-Level on Harbor Island by the airport (great views of the water), OB Noodle House ($1 beer specials and great food, but can get a little loud and rowdy later in the evening).

I could go on forever - just check yelp.com :) There's too many good places in San Diego!

  • I really Liked Rei Do Gado. Its in Downtown next to horton plaza  its really good its a brazilian restaurant and the atmosphere is very romantic.  I also recommend Sheerwater in Hotel del Coronado. but if you are not looking to spend 100 dlls then try Olive Garden :) its cheap but very good food!
