ETA - thank you so much to the disney regulars who help us newbies make plans. Especially PAGAS, Calmekel and Starlette!! (I feel like I'm forgetting a major helper - I think I owe thanks to TxSun for making me consider SoG).
Re: WDW follow up
Yeah that is what I suspected but the week we are going is in the off season so I can hope, right? My bro was medically discharged, not retired (he was 2 or 3 years from retirement, grrr) so he doesn't get the awesome military discount tickets for active and retired military. He just gets the florida resident and then he can buy ours on base. Have you done the AAA ones? Should I sign up for AAA to make it worth it to get our own tickets through them?

K. We are planning on my bro buying them at the base for us - park hopper (they don't do magic your way) and no tax.

Where did you decide to stay?
Have fun!!
So Tasty, So Yummy
We really couldn't beat the deal at Shades of Green. To get a comparable pricing at a disney resort to also be able to get the 2-meal a day plan (and eat breakfast in the room per your suggestion on another post), we'd have to stay at Port Orleans in Downtown disney, which from the pictures and reviews of people my brother knows, is like staying at a nice Motel 6. They don't have a nice pool area or anything. Shades of Green has a nice pool area and beautiful grounds that should still be enjoyable in early December. My brother and his family don't want to dine at Disney much if they can help it because they just came back from 3 weeks in Singapore and that was their vacation budget for the year. Inside the rooms at Shades of Green looks luxury for the 1960s, lol. But we don't plan on being in the room that much and the grounds are beautiful. It's also 1000 ft from the Polynesian so we can jump on the rail there and avoid buses to get to the parks.
I'm so excited - we'll be in adjoining rooms with my brother and his family so the cousins can play together.
I think I'm more excited than Maddie. I've never been to Disneyworld before!!
