"Private well" sign

Where can I find a nice 'private well' sign?  We are required to have one, but I don't want a really utilitarian one (e.g. one from Staples, red plastic with white lettering that you put in a window).  I want a "pretty" one and one I can stick in the dirt.

I have seen really nice ones in the neighborhood, some have a stone type look to them, fit in the landscaping more or less, but I have asked around with no luck (neighbors don't remember or it was there when they moved in).

I wish I could even find an example online that is even near what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to find anything.

Re: "Private well" sign

  • try etsy, even if someone doesn't have one ready to sell they can probably make you one

  • You could try those custom address signs.  Just order it with wording only and no numbers.

I'm curious why do you need a sign for your well?  So people don't spray chemicals on your yard or something?  We have a private well and so do my parents and ILs but I've never heard of this.

My parents used to be outside the city limits and have a private well. When the city annexed their neighborhood their well was grandfathered in. They can still use the well anyway they wish which means that when the city is on water restriction they can still water the lawn/garden with the well. However, they have to post a sign stating they have a private well.

  • It is required by the town that we post it.  You can only water the lawn during certain hours, there are a lot of regulations, and they want it posted.

When our sprinkler system was down and we used town water, we actually got a phone call asking why we were using so much water.

I'll definitely see what I can find!

  • Oh OK I see.  We don't have water restriction restrictions here (city or not) because we get lots of rain.
