Hi girls... so the trip is coming together. I posted the dates/locations on the private board so jump in and I'm open to making any plans with the nesties. What should I see, know, not see, tour, etc... in DC and Boston.... and GO!
(PS I'll be touring both on my own and will be in both 3-4 days... I also looove History stuff, so the dorkier the better, hehe)...
Re: East Coast Suggestions
Here is a good site to use if you want to visit the spots (or walk) the Freedom Trail. My personal favorites are the Swan boats (at Boston Commons) and Faneuil Hall.
You can also drive up to Salem and view different things up that way.
You could do a Fenway tour
There is also the Museum of Science and the Aquarium (If you want to do either of these, let me know... I may be able to get you tickets)
We have Whale Watching cruises out of the harbor
Since you are so used to the West Coast, I think it would be fun to visit the ocean at least once just to say you have seen the ocean on both coasts. Maybe one night we can take to the beach so you can see it
Dinner at Krissy's parents' house
And I second the Freedom Trail, I was in awe and all OMG the entire time... you will be too since you're a history nerd
And a Duck Tour! That was also awesome!
I haven't checked the PB yet, but if you are going to be in NJ/NY, Ellis Island and the Statute of Liberty were 1000x more awesome than I thought they would be!
My parents are going to be away while she is here
They are pretty bummed about it. They love meeting Nesties!
Ok..Dinner at Maria's parents' house? lol
In DC definitely hit those Smithsonian museums that peak your interest. You could probably do 2 in one day. I suggest a bus tour of the city -- they take you across to Arlington and there's so much to see its the best way to get it all in. The Holocaust museum is a "must do."
One of my favorite restaurants is Tara Thai -- there are several locations. You can find great deals on restaurants on Restaurant.com especially when they have $2 for $25 sales.
If there's something specific you are looking for in DC I can try and help since I lived down there for 5 years.
Jenny McCarthy = Former Playmate and MTV host
Pediatrician = Doctor with extensive experience and education on children.
Bumpies = Don't get me started!
I know who I get my health advice from!
What are you looking at?
Oooh, I'm so excited... I teach US Government so I'd love to see a lot of the government/historical sites in DC (what I can see on such short notice - I know it's too late to get a White House or Capitol tour, right?)....
So excited
I second Maria's suggestion for the Smithsonian (it's free, I think) and doing a bus tour to see the monuments.
I've never been there but I'm dying to go to the Newseum. It's supposed to be fab.
The US Holocaust Memorial Museum is really well done too. I pretty much sobbed my way through it but it's amazing.
I do think you need your Congressman to okay a White House/Capital tour... but I think the Supreme Court tours are more open.
The National Zoo, US Botanic Gardens, National Museum of Crime and International Spy Museum are all cool too!
