name game

Hi Ladies!

I need your input on names for baby girl #2 due in early September We have given it many hours of consideration but still cannot decide on a name. Here is what we have so far:

Abigail Claire

Abigail Jane

Samantha Jane

Samantha Kate

Hannah Kate

Hannah Mae

Samantha Jane

Claire Elizabeth

Emma Kate

Thanks for your help! :)

Re: name game

  • Emma Kate jumps out at me.  Kate is my top middle name for a potential daughter someday :)
  • You have so many choices...maybe you should put all the names on two dice and roll them to pick the first and the middle!

The only name I don't care for personally is Mae as a middle name. But really, none of the names are anything that will get your or your child laughed at which was part of my name choosing criteria.

  • I like Emma Kate and Claire Elizabeth. If I had to pick one, I think I would go for Claire. I feel like it is a name that is nice when she is little but also a name that she could grow with confidently.

  • I also like Claire the best.  I think that Kate is a pretty trendy name right now.

  • I have strong opinions on baby names (though it really has no bearing on my life- I just like to be opinionated) and I'm happy to report none of these names are terrible- which is my normal reaction to people's choices!

I like Claire or Samantha, and I don't really care about the middle name because you never really use it. (Though Kate is more of a nickname to me, so I'd prefer Katherine or Katelyn.) Abigail, Hannah, and Emma are too popular for my taste.

So, to be less wordy, I like Samantha Jane or Claire Elizabeth best.

  • I think they are all beautiful names, but I especially like "Claire Elizabeth."  It's classic and not too trendy.

  • All of those names are pretty high on the popularity scale, so choosing one over the other for that reason is probably moot.  So I'll just go with what jumped out at me:

    Emma Kate

    Abigail Claire

    Claire Elizabeth

I've always loved the name Claire.  It was almost my Confirmation name.

  • Thanks for all the responses...most of the names (first and middle) have family importance.

Mae is my grandmother's middle name and also my 2 year old niece/god daughter's mn. Kate is my father and grandmother's nickname for me...Elizabeth is my mn...and Jane is also a family name...as for Samantha, Hannah, and Abigail they are all just names I like.

Love to read everyone's thoughts on the names...thanks again! :)
