Wall Decal Nesties

I am going to be putting up the tree decal I got the for the nursery this week. I have the directions and googled for tips and what-not but wondered if any of you ladies have worked with them and have any tips to keep in mind.

TIA!

These are the decals but the flowers are light pink and white and the tree trunk is dark brown.

Re: Wall Decal Nesties

  • Oh, I love it! That's going to look amazing!

My only tip is to go slowly so it doesn't bubble.

  • Go slow so it doesn't bubble and have Scott help you. We found that worked best, if I peeled off the pieces and then handed them to Chris.
  • I love it! Sorry, I have no tips :)

  • Thanks ladies!!! I can't wait to share pictures. Right now it is soooo yellow and green I feel like it totally looks like a boys room with the dark furniture. I can't wait to get the pink stuff up (decal, sheers and eventually and name plaque if we figure out a name).

Did either of you have to use a needle to pop and smooth any bubbles? Our walls for sure have imperfections no matter how my dh worked ont them.

  • We didn't, we found by be handing the whole piece to him and placing it on the wall and him flattening out when didn't get any bubbles, if we did, we would slowly peel off a bit and then reapply.

Awesome thanks!! I told him earlier he would definitely have to help me. The tree comes in pieces which I am not sure I am happy about but probably cuts down on some problems and keeps it easier to handle.

  • I LOVE THAT!  So cute!!!!!!!

I have not tips because I've never done that, but just wanted to say how cute it was!  Good luck!

  • Definitely use tape to tape stuff up first to help find the placement.  For the trunk, I don't know how yours is but when I helped my cousin it came in pieces.  Stated with the bottom most piece and started fromt the bottom up. Two people is definitely necessary for this, One to help pull the backing off slowly and one doing the smoothing out.  We did have a few bubbles where there were wall imperfections.  It definitely would have been easy to use a needle to pop it and let the air out.  You wouldn't have been able to see it at all.

Once we went to put the leaves and flowers on we just taped thme up to see the placing we liked (somehow when she ordered the lady misunderstood and sent half white and half green leaves so we couldn't use the "map" they gave us)  The biggest PITA was anything that had really tiny pieces to get off the top layer of contact paper.

Thanks! How funny that you did this!!! The tree is in pieces and I was going to tape up today to get an idea. We didn't get any 'map' at all just the orginal picture. I was wondering how the little skinny parts of the flowers near the centers might be.

Thanks for the input very greatly appreciated. I'm a little bit nervous actually. LOL

  • Love the decal, here's a blog tutorial on hanging a decal.  Not sure as I have no experience, but hopefully gives some good tips.

Thanks!! I had a similar one saved and deleted them all when I was cleaning up the favorites on my work PC.

  • I wish I had some tips for you. I put decals up in our nursery and it was a huge pain in the @ss.

Holy $hit Dani it was a major pain in the a$$ and I only have the tree up, two birds and not even 1/3 of the flowers. I would get on a roll and then take a backing off too quickly and have to remind myself to be slower. I hope the payoff is worth it.

I will post a pic tonight if I finish, it was so exhausting.
