I know there are a lot of us who celebrated our one year anniversary yesterday/this past weekend. Let's hear those stories!!! What did you do, gifts, etc...
We went to Martha's Vineyard for the weekend. We took the ferry over Friday morning, the weather was kinda drab. So we got to the house, grabbed lunch and then decided that since the weather wasn't great, we'd drive around the whole island. We drove over to Gay Head, which has beautiful cliffs and the views were awesome (even in the fog). The house we were staying at was awesome and right on a lake. It was so relaxing - we spent lots of time sitting on the back porch overlooking the lake and just reading.
Saturday we went to breakfast at this restaurant that is at the biplane airport (grass runways, prop planes) which was awesome. Then we just walked around town all day. Popped in and out of the shops, walked to the lighthouse, etc. Had a nice dinner at a seafood place that was right on the water.
We left Sunday morning - and just did some typical Sunday things when we got home. But at 5:30, DH gave me his card and gift (he wanted to give it to me at the time that we actually got married). He gave me 2 Pandora beads. One is the marriage bead and the other is a box of crayons. The box of crayons is for our ceremony - our priest gave us a box of crayons during his homily - the box is currently on display in our living room hutch.
It was a fantastic weekend - very relaxing and such a great time. Hard to believe that it's been a whole year already - the time certainly has flown by.
How was everyone else'e weekend?!
Re: July 10th Anniversaries
Sounds like a great weekend! Very sweet.
I came home from work saturday night and DH had gone to fireworks with friends so they were all over and everyone was drunk. DH had this look of accomplishment on his face, he gave me a kiss and told me happy anniversary and showed me this cake he made. I posted it on facebook. lol. He got me a card too. I said let me change and I'll give you your gift. Came back and gave him the ticket for the stock car driving. He had this look of confusion trying to read it while intoxicated. So I told him. Then he had this sad puppy dog look and said "All I got you was a cake." I said it's ok, it's good and you cleaned the house. lol
Sunday day we just layed around, i cleaned up the house and went to work. Nothing big or anything. It was sweet to me though.
Our anniversary is actually today. Since we did our golf/spa overnight at the fancy resort two weeks ago, we're just going out to dinner somewhere today. We haven't been able to agree on where, though. We orignally planned on Cheesecake Factory, but since we got our cake topper from my mom's house yesterday and want to eat that - we don't want to be tempted by cheesecake. I want to go to a fancier restaurant, but DH has a really busy day at work today and doesn't want to disappoint me by being late for a reservation. So now I'm trying to find a nicer place that still takes walk-in's.
I got him a polo shirt he wanted (mistaking cotton for the 1st anniversary), but I suggested to him the we do a joint gift of one of those moon photos someone posted the link to the other day. I'll still give him the shirt and a card. I have no idea if he'll get me anything.
ETA: I just got a beautiful bouquet of flowers with pink roses - my favorite - delivered with a little card DH actually wrote himself. Awwww!
The bpics aren't ready yet
I placed my order for the prints I want on Wednesday and it takes 4-6 weeks to get them in....so I only had a card for him, with a little note that said sorry you don't have a gift to open but it will be worth it!
Our anniversary was Sunday, but we pretty much just celebrated on Saturday.
We went to this pottery painting place Saturday afternoon and painted some serving dishes that we can use to entertain. It was a blast and really relaxing. DH knows I really like to do that! :-)
Saturday evening, we went to dinner at this cute local place that had delicious food! I told them it was our anniversary and they even gave us some free champagne! We went home and ate some of our newly made "top tier," and toasted with more champagne as we watched our wedding video and cracked up at our families.
Sunday we just went shopping and walked around and people watched. It was still nice to spend time with my hubby! We didn't do traditional gifts this year, but bought attachments for our kitchenaid mixer instead since we love to cook and bake!
my read shelf:
We went to Patriots Place to walk around all the shops! Then we had dinner at one of the restaurants. This friday I'm on vacation and we're going to Chicago it's gonna be a blast!!!
Oh and he got me a scrapbooking bag (I use tubs for my stuff) and filled it with paper! Very creative of him to think of that!
We went to Chicago for the weekend. Ate at Petterinos for dinner and saw Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Stayed at the Hard Rock hotel and went shopping on Michigan Ave on Sunday. It was nice and relaxing.
I got DH a bunch of Magazines and books on home improvement since that seems to be his new hobby. I am still waiting for my gift. He was hoping to get a way with buying me something in Chicago, but I didn't really find anything I wanted and being swollen and pregnant other than purses what was I going to find?
