I can't remember if I've posted here or not, so I'll just go ahead and post a reminder.
This is non-fiction and it's about the Americanization of Hawaii. Sarah Vowell is my kind of nerdy and I love everything she's written, so naturally, I loved this book.
I did get a little bogged down in the hawaiian names for everything, so keep that in mind.
After we read it and meet for some Kona (
) to talk about it, we should plan a group MNO...in Hawaii. Because now I NEED to go.
Upcoming books:
aug: Smoking Seventeen - the newest Stephanie Plum - out June 21 (you don't have to have read the prior books to "get" it, but really, you're missing out if you haven't. I think reading 17 of them in a row might get a little old, though.)
sept: One of Our Thursdays is Missing - Jasper Fforde (a Thursday Next novel, out March 2)
oct: The Poisoner's Handbook
nov: An Offering of Leaves: Ruth Lauer-Manenti
Nov & Dec: we'll take off due to the holidays. This can be revisited later.
