So I posted last week about switching vets. Here is an update. I stopped by my vet the other day, and asked them if they would ever do after hours emergency visits, because we had to take Biscuit to the only vet in town that would come in a couple nights ago. The vet tech said "No, we are here enough." I said, yea well we had to take Biscuit to the vet Tuesday night because her stool was bright red with blood" She said well the emergency numbers for the vet in Midlothian and Arlington are on the answering machine" (mind you....Midlothian is an hour from us, and Arlington about an hour and 20 minutes). She said by the time one of the vets could come in, you could drive to Arlington (which is BS, I know one the owner vet's daughter and have been to his house, its max 15 minutes from his office, and the other vet is maybe 10 minutes away).
So the vet we did take her to after hours, two days after our visit he called to check on her, and then we get a nice card in the mail welcoming us to their practice. I thought that was super sweet. A friend of mine uses this new vet and likes everyone except one of the front desk girls, said she was kinda rude sometimes.
Re: Switching Vets again...update
THIS! I took my new dog to the vet Friday and the front girl actually asked me make my dog stop barking. I was trying but he is very scared of bigger guys ( think he was abused by one) and the other tech was a bigger guy and he kept trying to pet my dog. I explained that he is very scared of guys in general and the guy wouldn't stop so my dog was barking at him. She then asked me if I could make my dog stop barking since it was hard to hear anything. I told her he would stop as soon as she made her co-worker leave him alone. I was so annoyed. I love the vet but the front desk people need to work on their people and animal skills!
WOW! My friend that uses this vet was taking her two dogs to Bark in the Park at the Rangers game, and before you could purchase your tickets, you had to send the Rangers the dogs shot records. So she called the vet's office and asked for the dogs "shot records" She gets there and its just the vet notes, nothing indicating what shots they had when. When she told the girl at the front desk I need the shot records, something saying what shots they had and when, the girl said "Why didn't you ask for that then" She was like I thought that is what a shot record was??
