DH and I are getting ready to start our kitchen/bath remodel, which will include some demolition. We hoped to use the guy who is doing our addition, but we are not very happy with his ability to keep on schedule and his price changes. We received a estimate from him weeks ago, and he said it was priced high/worst case scenario. We made some changes last week, and he mentioned it would cut out $1500, so we were excited. He gave a new estimate today with a $4500 increase. DH will sit with him and go line by line to see if there is a mistake, but I am getting a sketch feeling.
Thankfully, my Dad was a builder, so we are getting a lot of help from him. Since our current guy is not comfortable working with marble, my Dad is already taking over that part. Granted, marble work wasn't in the original contract, but he did not have to consent to the change. This guy also is very good at everything else he does- he just does it very slowly (he also told us he would work with a 3-4 person crew; 95% of the time it has only been 2 people). Plus, I don't feel comfortable with the price games.
Can anyone recommend someone reliable who works in Goshen?
Thanks for listening to the vent and any suggestions you may have.
