Has anyone here seen Restrepo? I watched the first half of it with SO and am going to finish it tonight. I'm like speechless about it.
Re: Documentary rec
This. Its incredible.
They are, however, in combat. Both the Marine Corps and Army have female population engagement teams, and heck women are on things like supply convoys and helicopters, and those certainly are engaged in combat.
I believe, eventually, that will change. I wrote a paper in college about conscription and talked about how MOS/rates/AFSCs have opened up to women in the past 40 years, and eventually, when equipment is lighter and attitudes are different, I think we'll see women in those jobs. Just not any time particularly soon.
