I have a strange question for the CPAs on here

Is it common for employers to ask to see your transcripts when applying or interviewing for a job? Do they just care that you are licensed? I ask because legal employers sometimes will ask even when you are several years out of school.

I don't remember having to show my transcripts. I don't even think I showed a copy of my degree. I was already employed when I passed the exam and got licensed. If the requirements are still the same (I've had my license 10 years) then you have to have a year of work experience before you're fully licensed.

  • I've never been asked for any transcripts except for my first job out of college. I think it's pretty common to just ask for your resume.

  • We have never had a client ask for transcripts.  They do ask that we verify their license and their degree.

  • They may not ask for your actual transcript, but in the interview, they make ask if you are CPA eligible, and if not, how many classes you have left to take to do so.
