Is this a good deal? $66 for 1/2 peck of apples (about 12) delivered to the campus/my work every other week for 12 weeks during the fall, so a total of 6 deliveries. They said it comes to $2.10 a pound.
TIA!
Re: CSA ladies
They are organic. Think I might do it. I like buying local, but can't do a regular CSA bc DH doesn't eat fruit or veggies
I really wish I had time to make my own baby food... maybe I can work it out. I'd really like to! Do you have a book or website you'd recommend to get started?
Is Robert eating fruits and veggies already? Or are you freezing things just to get ready?
That's really good! Organic apples around here go for $2.99/lb.
I've been eating a lot of apples lately and making baked apple chips - so yummy! Just preheat the oven to 400, slice the apples, place on baking sheet, reduce to 170, and back for 2-3 hours depending on how chewy or crispy you like them. You can sprinkle with cinnamon too. yumm!
We are freezing them for now. Per our pedi, we are going to start at 5 months. She said she changes her recommendations from patient to patient and she thinks he is ready.
It is SUPER easy to make baby apples. All you do is peel them-cut them into small chunks and then boil them til they are soft then pop it into a food processor. It takes just a few minutes and one apple made about 4-5 servings.
