Help me make a good impression on our neighbors
We just bought a home and I haven't met any neighbors yet. I'm planning to make some chocolate chip cookies and caramel bars and package them up, then hand deliver to the people on either side of us, and the 3 houses that face ours.
I'm thinking I'll include a hand-written note that should make sense whether they open the door when we knock, or find it in their mailbox later. And I don't want to make it super cutesy, haha.
What do you think of this?

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
However, I would almost certainly just throw the food away - I'm weird about eating homemade food made by someone that I don't know.
They should be welcoming you to the neighborhood.
But, it is sweet and I would also include my home phone #, just in case they want to call and thank you or invite you over.

They should be the ones bringing sweets, but I like that you are putting things out there. Definitely add a phone #. Even if they throw them out it's a nice gesture they won't forget.
It's always good to have neighbors like you. A little boy was wandering our street last year. One set of neighbors was getting the kid while another was pounding on our door. It wasn't our kid, but it was good that they were looking out for us.
Agree with all of this.

Ditto.. they will understand that you are just moving in and unpacking so that last thing they would want/expect you to do is bring or bake THEM something. When they come to your door bringing you gifts, just graciously accept all and maybe have a 'calling' card handy with you & your spouse's and childrens name and contact information...(I'm so bad with names and could never remember anyone's name for years)
I still say go for it. And I've done it myself and it's been well-received. Yeah, it's their job, but how many people really do that?
But it sounds like you didn't win the neighbor lottery if they won't make eye contact
I hate neighborhoods like that and I'm always happy when we move - nice neighbors are the best.
