Noticed that you were from the Chicago area. DH and I are planning to spend our anniversary weekend there - end of October- and was wondering if you (or anyone else) can provide some recommendations for dining and/or fun activities.
I've been to Chicago a few times and so has DH, so I'm thinking something fun but not too touristy.

Plan is to drive up early Saturday morning and leave Monday late morning. It's about a 5 hour drive for us.
Looking for some unique restaurants. I found some reviews on The Girl and the Goat (we're both HUGE Top Chef fans) so that's a possibility. We were thinking of doing a brunch on the Sunday that we're there, so any recs with a good slecection would be great.
As for evening activities, we're not big into the bar scene and would prefer something fun but a little more low-key and quiet. Day-time activities I had thought about renting bikes along the lake shore, but i'm not sure how late October waether would fare for that.
