PSA for pet owners

My friend took her cat to stay at her parent's house (she does this a lot when they go on vacation, etc) and he nibbled on one of their houseplants and is now in the vet's office very sick. He has kidney damage and is on IVs, etc. Not sure what his prognosis is going to be yet. So, just a reminder to check your houseplants as many of them are toxic to cats (and dogs too, I imagine). The particular plant he ate was a kalanchoe (sp?). I hope he is ok......we went to the shelter and picked him out together 11 years ago when we were in college :(
