help with a class project?

I'm taking a marketing course online this summer as part of my MBA program. So, my project for the course is to come up with a 'new product' and to develop a marketing plan for this product. I've been absolutely wracking my brain for the last 3 days and cannot come up with a single product!

So, I was hoping to get your help with some ideas! Are there any products that you ever wish existed, or any products you know of or have that could be improved?

I tried to think about what would have made wedding planning easier, or buying a house... but I just can't come up with anything! I'd love your creativity ladies! :)

Oh, and of course, if you have an idea for something that you're actually planning on developing someday, please don't feel forced to share - I'm not looking to steal your ideas!

Re: help with a class project?

  • Well for when I'm working an event floor I have a giant emergency kit however I wish I had something smaller like a special fanny pack or tool belt to carry the essentials in so that I'm not carrying everything in my hands.

For cooking I wish I had heat resistant gloves (that are thin) so that I can do things like pulling pork when sometimes just using your hands is easier without burning myself.

  • Okay I will share with you my two inventions, so you can use them for your class but if I see them for sale on an infomercial you're in trouble.

    1. The Handle Coozie --- Ever want your beer/soda/tea in a frozen mug but then your hand gets numb trying to hold it? Enter the Handle Coozie which fits snugly around the handle of any standard size frozen mug. Cold drink, warm hand.

    2. The Mojito Straw -- Love mojitos but sick of getting the mint and lime pieces stuck in your straw so you can't get any liquid up? The mojito straw is designed kind of like a sieve or strainer at the bottom to keep out the gunk while letting your delicious drink flow directly to your lips.

    * I swear I'm not an drunk, I just come up with really great ideas while drinking!

  • Oh and those cushy matts that they make for the kitchen.....I wish they made them in shoe/flip/flop form. Cause they don't span the whole kitchen they aren't big enough and the bigger they are the cost increases a ton. Plus I could use them doing other things as well!

This is a great idea!  I had the opposite problem the other day when I was mixing turkey meat for burgers and it was SO cold!!!  I had to keep stopping to warm up my hands.  So I guess this invention could work either way

Rachel - I love how you have the 'infomercials' written already!!!!  Nice!

I'm sorry that I have absolutely nothing to share, but these are great ideas!!!

hahaahaa - I love that you already have the informercial planned out and everything!! Those are great! Oh, and if you ever do see them in a late-night informercial, I pinky swear it wasn't me!

  • Rach: Sure, we know you're not a drunk Wink

My invention? The "pedi-sock". It's a sock that is water proof on the outside (some type of rubber or poly-type material), but on the inside has a soft, exfoliating type material (maybe a slightly abbrasive material, but nothing that would scratch you).

    It would work like this:

You could put an emoliant, cleansing cream with little "scrubbers" (think micro-dermabrasion for the feet, but not as harsh) into the sock, and then just use your hands to "rub" or exfoliate your tootsies! A nice massage, dead rough skin removed with no messy hands or floor area. Voila!

When you are done, simply turn the sock inside out and clean with warm water and dry for the next use. Cool

I'm sure there are some details that'd need working out, but that's it in a nutshell! Good luck!!

Oh that would be amazing if it worked the other way too! I had pulled pork on the brain since I made that a couple weeks ago but cleaning out a chicken/turkey totally would be helpful!

  • My best friend always wants me to watch her dog when she is away. I don't mind, but if you can invent a machine that can pick up and put down new potty mats, Or a dispenser with a timer that can place the water and food for your pets while you are away from home.

They actually have these! One of my friends has one for her cats...they are pretty neat!

  • How about a machine that rubs your feet and legs. I know there are similar things but I want one that replicates actual hands.
  • Stacy - I totally NEED the pedi-sock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seriously ladies we are a pretty brilliant bunch! I mean this is a MUCH better idea then that weird golf club for men that they can pee into on the golf course.....I'm not kidding. http://www.gizmag.com/uroclub-portable-golf-urinal/14147/ Sorry I was watching Shark Tank! haha
  • My idea is along the same line as Stacy's. It's a pedi-bootie. Basically it's for when you get pedicures in the winter and wearing open-toed shoes home is not an option. You know how you either have to sit around the nail salon forever so that your toes are totally dry, or mess up your pedicure by shoving your toes into a pair of shoes (which is what happens with me 90% of the time because I'm impatient)? The pedi-bootie would snap on to our feet and have say a one inch space built in above the toes so that they don't rub against the top and ruin your pedicure.

They would have to be pretty inexpensive, but I know I would buy a pair!
