  • Very nice!  And is that the landscaping that the inspector wanted torn out?  No wonder you don't want to do it -- the yard looks lovely!

Yes it is! And that picture was taken years ago, so there's more stuff there now.

BTW I called our landscaper yesterday to get a quote on ripping everything out. He just groaned.

  • I just read your other post. I don't think ripping everything out is necessary at all. (And no way on this earth would I do it for them)

What if you just pull the mulch and dirt back from the foundation? Make the bed have a little hill to it. No actual dirt removal, no harm to plants, no changing sidewalk.

If that's not permanent enough, pull the dirt and mulch back, make a little trough/no-mans-land between the house the bed, maybe with rocks in it, and add a black plastic landscape edging between the no-mans-land and the rest of the bed.

I would run those ideas past the inspector and get quotes on that solution from the landscaper. I'm sure it's much cheaper than the rip it all out quote and just give them that alllowance.

  • What does something like that normally cost?  We are in need of some major landscaping!
