I am thinking of joining weight watchers. Have any of you had success with WW or have any tips for me? I have yet to decide if i'll be doing in person or online.
Re: Weight Watchers
My friend convinced me to do it with her a few months ago - we both had about 10 lbs we wanted to lose. As of now I have lost 11 lbs and I'm pretty much at my goal. I started at the end of March. I highly recommend ww because I really didn't feel deprived at all. I did already eat pretty healthy, but the program just helped me reign in on the extra sweets and pass by all the goodies we always have at work.
I will say though that if I didn't have the support of my friend doing it with me (we both did it online and she lives out of state. We'd text constantly about how we were doing) it would have been a lot harder. At this point I am canceling my online subscription because I am tired of counting points every day. I didn't mind it at first, but I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. I feel like I know what I need to do though and if I feel like I'm sliding I'll probably do a free online program like sparkpeople.
I've heard a lot of people say they have more success if they go to meetings because it helps keep you accountable.
I think my biggest tip (or what worked for me) is to make sure you stay within your daily points during every week day and save all your splurge ("weekly points") for the weekend. My weigh in day was Tuesday so my points would start over that day. It is just nice to know you've been good all week and can enjoy your weekend without guilt. Oh and always eat all your daily points. If you don't eat them all it will likely backfire on you and you won't lose weight as fast.
If you have any more questions about it, just let me know.

I'm in my 8th week, 6th week weighing in. I haven't lost as much as I would have liked but it's my own fault. I need to plan better and I have been getting better. Last week though I lost 2.6lbs.
My Husband and I are doing it together and we have way more than 10lbs to lose. I love the program. I don't feel deprived either. Yesterday, even after I ate breakfast and lunch, I had a sizeable amount of points leftover. My old self would have been like 'woo-hoo! I'm getting a blizzard after work!' Instead, as a 'reward' I didn't count points for dinner. I made buffalo chicken salad with cucumbers, green pepper and tomatoes. I didn't scrutinize the ingredients and count up the points (although, I'm sure they'd be relatively low). I made sure to eat all my veggies and most of my chicken and called it good. I was so full. We served it with these biscuits, which I ate more than I should have.
About 4hrs later, we were both a little hungry so we had a couple pieces of toast with nutella.
I attend the meetings. I wouldn't be able to do it without the meetings. I don't trust myself. This is my 4th time on WW and I really feel like it's different. My attitude is different. It's going to be a slow process (I didn't gain the weight in a day, week, month, it's not going to come off in a day, week or month!) but I think WW is what works for me.
It's relatively cheap too. You can eat whatever is in the grocery store. I buy whats on sale for produce and that's what we're eating, produce wise, that week. Next week, I'll buy whats on sale. We get a nice variety this way and it doesn't break the bank. Last night I went and stocked up on yogurt, fresh produce and a few other things. I didn't even step foot in the cracker, cookie or prepackaged snack aisles. It didn't bother me either.

Good Luck!!
I do online only, because I don't have time for meetings and that's not really my thing. (Plus it's cheaper to just do online and you get all of the same information you would at meetings; you just don't get the little weight loss trinkets.) I have found others to be accountable to like my husband, friends, and myself. The program does work, and I love that I can really eat whatever I want without feeling deprieved. Learning to plan ahead and good portion control has been priceless.
I joined in the end of February and have lost just shy of 30 pounds. You can email me at termiknitter at gmail dot com if you have any other questions.
WOW!! 30lbs is awesome! Way to go

Thanks!! I still have a long way to go (about 90 more pounds), but it feels so good to be making such great progress.
Holy crap! nice job on the weight loss!
I did WW before the wedding and lost about 15 pounds, then I got stressed/lazy/busy/everyotherexcuse and stopped. In general though, I really do like WW, and I think the 'new' plan is far improved from the other one. (They actually consider protein and carbs now!)

I have tried a lot of programs out there and WW is definitely the best I've done. I think I've done it 3 times now - the last time around with the new WW Points Plus which I really liked. I did it for 3 months and lost 12 lbs, so a little slower than I wanted but that was my own fault. But everytime I've done it I've lost weight.
If you cook at all, Gina's website really helped me the last time around - www. skinnytaste.com. I probably made dinners off her website 2 or 3 times a week - very tasty, good portion sizes and all points calculated for you.
WW was the only thing that ever worked for me, and I've tried a whole bunch of stuff since I was in high school. About 3 years ago I started WW online only (I didn't have time for meetings and there weren't any that were convenient to me anyways), and I lost about 33 lbs). I have been able to maintain within about 10-15 lbs since then, and have recently started back by using an app on my droid phone (that is FREE!) to lose those 10 lbs that have crept up since then.
I liked all of the online features and message boards, and was able to connect with other young ladies in my state for accountability. We checked in with each other online pretty much daily, which really helped. We would tell each other what we ate, share recipes, successes, weaknesses, etc. It really helped!
Also, for the first like 2 months or so of the program, I did not alter my workout routine (or lack thereof) at all. I just focused on eating right and getting accustomed to the points system. Once I had a handle on that, and was seeing results, I slowly got back on track with my fitness, which just balanced everything out, and kept me losing!!
I highly recommend it!!

Oh wait...
Okay, so I had ATTEMPTED to first use a free app, but it was pretty terrible, so then I got Weight Watchers Diary, by croc software which was just under $2. It sure beats the almost $18 a month for online though!
Also to anyone interested in recipes, I recently came across Gina's Skinny Recipes. She has loads of yummy recipes (with new ones often) and includes WW Plus Points and old Points for each one:
