to those that craft and maybe to those that dont

do you ever sell any of your stuff?

i have gotten into my aisle runners for the wedding and have done a few, as well as making some blankets. and i am looking to try to expand and do more, my mom thought i should build my blanket and other non custom stuff  supply up and do craft fairs.

i dont know if it would be worth it to make the stuff, pay for the table, and sit there all day to sell it.

please let me know your thoughts. thanks!

My first suggestion would be to start visiting local craft fairs.  Get an idea of how many other vendors sell the items you are making.  What do they charge?  You can even check etsy to see if they sell items similar to what you make and see what they charge.  Calculate how much it would actually cost you per item to make it (for ALL supplies).  How long does it take?  If you were working another job at $X/hr, how much money could you make that way instead rather than taking the time to make each item.  No one can answer whether it's a good idea or not other than you because we do not know what you are making, spending, how valuable your time is, how long it takes you to make crafts, etc.
  • I used to sell my greeting cards at craft fairs and also took custom orders.  I ended up doing much better through word of mouth referrals than at the fairs but, you never know :)
