Detergent stains

Hello,

Lately I have been getting stains on my clothes after doing laundry. I haven't changed my detergent or done anything different. These detergent stains just started appearing on almost every load I do. I use liquid detergent and I always dissolve it in water before adding the clothes. I don't know what else to do to prevent these stains. Any suggestions?

Re: Detergent stains

  • Are you on well water? Hard water or iron could both cause this (I know because we have both!)
  • Try washing soda when you do laundry, it modifies the pH of the water to make detergent work more effectively, and with a 1/2 cup in a large load, you only need half as much soap.  Hopefully that changes the water enough to get the soap out at the end of the cycles!
