Best place to register for baby?

I'm not a huge fan of Babies R Us since they seem overpriced. I don't feel like Target has a huge selection of items compared to Babies R Us. I would like to register only at Amazon (since you can do the Universal Registry and add stuff from Etsy) and then maybe a The Little Padded Seat for CD items. What do you think? Should I skip one of these and use an actual store so to make it easier on people? What are your opinions of an online registry?

Where did you ladies register?

Thanks!

Re: Best place to register for baby?

  • We registered at Babies R Us and Target. Target didn't have a great selection in my opinion but we went there for the convenience factor as a lot of DH's family lives in an area not near a BRU. We double registered for a lot of things at both places and watched our registry and just deleted at one store if we noticed it was bought at the other. I think an online registry would be great for those that know about that kind of thing but I know a lot of people just go to the default stores and look up your registry so unless you let everyone know by word of mouth or on shower invitations or something, I'm not sure how many people would access the online one. Good luck- registering is so fun but overwhelming lol!

  • I would do an actual b&m store.  You can actually get stuff at resonable prices at bru if you have coupons.  They'll let you get your completion coupon early and you can stack it with other coupons.  And if you are buying things that aren't on your registry, they'll let you add them before issuing you your completion coupon.  We added everything that we didn't get from target to bru and then used coupons. We got our travel system, matress, changing pad and a bunch of other stuff really cheap there!

  • I did as grinny's did and registered at BRU and Target. We modified the lists as people bought items. Unfortunately, most of our family lives in areas where there is neither a BRU or a Target so we had very little modifying to do. And most of our family doesn't shop online; the few that do shop online live in DM.

Ultimately, we should have just registered at WalMart - not because it's the best selection or highest quality, but because that's what our family and friends would use the most.

  • I would do an actual store because I've noticed that people wait until last minute to get shower gifts.  If you just do online they won't have time to have it shipped and will likely end up going to Target or BRU to get you something that you either don't need or already have.  Definitely do a store.
  • We did BRU and Target as well, for family.  I like that you can register for gift cards at Target.  We then used these for diapers, pastes, etc.
