Best tricks for beating the heat?
Okay fellow Canucks, let's get some relief going!
For those of us in Manitoba, Ontario & Quebec, we're in the middle of a horrible heat wave. I, personally, detest humidity, and wish that a) rain would come and it woudl all go away, and b) would take this for a dry heat any day.
Any suggestions to cope with this without burning $$ on the A/C all the time?
The only thing I can suggest - fans and taking showers/baths to cool down.
Unfortunately for us Winnipeggers, we're in this for another week at least. Good Grief!
Re: Best tricks for beating the heat?
I'm in Chesley Ontario. My biggest problem with the heat is I get sleepy. What's worse is that I get sleepy at work :S. I've tried staying hydrated but I just can't keep up.
I like to take a luke warm bath before going to bed to cool me down.
Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the great ideas - that's brilliant - maybe I should have some ice cream while in the tub...yum, yum!
Peterborough Ontario here.
Here's my tried and true method that costs nest to nothing.
1) find a towel and put it on the floor infront of your favourite spot when watching tv
2) get a bucket and fill it with cold tap water and your favourite bath salts or bubble bath
3) sit in front of the tv and watch something while soaking your feet, ankles and calves in that cool water.
4) after 30 minutes/ 1 hour / until you turn into a prune, just step out onto the towel, and dry off.
It will seriously cool you RIGHT down. think how many times you put on warm socks or soak your feet in hot water when you're cold? the opposite works just as well. Plus your feet feel and smell great afterwards.
Happy soaking
OMG - you're a genius! I'd plum forgotten about this one - and I did that a whack last year when we didn't have AC and I was preggers with Stephanie. You rock - thank you so much!
