Pt. Pleasant NJ beach info

My aunt and I took the girls to Pt Pleasant for a day trip on Thursday. It took us 2 hours to get there. My main concern for the day was where I could nurse Sam - she won't keep a cover on anymore, and I am just not comfortable whipping my boobs out everywhere and due to our size/position/whatnot, nursing is not discreet for us.

A nj nestie recommended this place:

It was perfect for us! And most importantly, it was clean :) Thought some of you might want to know about it.

The changing room is very small - like the size of a small hall closet near your door for coats. it has wooden pegs and a bench against the back. you change there and can lock your extra things in there too. it locks behind you, and a staff person will open for you when needed. we used it to change and store clean stuff for after, and i was able to come back and nurse the baby there.

The showers are along each row of closet cabanas. it's in a closet thing too. truthfully, i stripped my kids to bathe them because of the amount of sand in their suit bottoms, but my aunt and i bathed in our bathing suits - mostly to just rinse off and freshen up. did the trick. I loved getting clean after we were done with the beach part of our day, even though we reapplied sunscreen to head to the boardwalk for the remainder of the time.

having access to a clean toilet all day was nice too.

it cost us $7 for each adult, Ava and Samantha were free. I don't remember at what age they start charging for a child. Amazingly, Ava was also free on the beach because she won't be 4 until the end of July! I think the beach access prices were a little different than by the boardwalk/Jenkinsons stuff.

Also, because it's all the way at the end of the boardwalk, my kid is not distracted by toys, games, rides, stores, food, etc. we were all focused on the beach, and it was a thrill to her to have the attractions in the evening for dinner. it took 5 min to walk to all of that from the cafe/cabana.

it was thursday and totally empty. we got there around 11am. they do close at 5pm, so we were off the beach at 4:20 scrambling to clean up and pack up.

you can also pay for toilets or toilets and shower access only.

this was more pleasant than when we went 2 years ago and only had public restrooms - i was thankful that ava was in pull ups then! it was gross.

Timing worked well - we used the bathrooms one last time when they closed up, and then we went to the first rest stop on the GSP to use them again. Avoided the public restroom on the beach completely. I'd like to thank Ava for drinking just enough fluids to stay hydrated and not need a beach toilet for those 3 hours. I changed the girls into pjs for the ride home too.

The kids rides were fun, dinner was greasy, ice cream was cold. a wonderful day trip.
