Just moved to Green Bay

My husband and I just moved to Green Bay because his job is (temporarily) here. I know literally no one and I am slowly figuring out the city. Any tips on what to do in GB?

Re: Just moved to Green Bay

  • Depends on what you like to do! My husband and I are really into food so we have been exploring different places, as well as shopping around and decorating our new apartment (we were married a week ago). I would recommend Josephine's which is an Italian place in Howard (suburb of GB), Taste of India, China Kitchen, and theres a great sandwich place in the east town mall. We also spend a lot of time at barnes and noble because there's free wi-fi, coffee, and books/magazines to browse. If you get community mailer you can get coupons and free trial memberships to gold's gym or fitness 19 (we got a bunch of free guest passes from our landlords). If you like movies, i'd recommend the East Marcus cinema or Budget Cinemas in the east town mall. Bay Park cinema by the mall is ok, but budget is cheaper obviously and East Marcus has reeeeally comfortable seats. If you like concerts/plays/live shows, I recommend the Weidner Center or the Meyer theatre. There are a lot of great wineries in Door County, and finally if you like football/the packers, you can buy things and tour at Lambeau field. Thats all i can think of for now, I hope this helps!

  • We just moved to the Appleton area about 1 year ago and just bought a house in March.  We don't know anyone besides the people we work with and a sister-in-law in the area.  But as far as meeting new friends when you're in your late 20's with no kids seems pretty difficult.  We feel your pain!  But if you ever feel like exploring Appleton and/or Green Bay with another couple...let me know!

  • I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one in this boat! I have yet to even find a job so my interaction with other people is severely lacking :). I was in appleton a few weeks ago to check out the mall... maybe I'll look you up next time I head that way!

  • There is also a great Thai restaurant (If you like Thai food) off of broadway. I used to work there as a waitress, and we get customers from every where. Door county is a very beautiful place. Whitefish Dunes is a catch!! Very very beautiful scenery! I do photography as a hobby, and me and my husband travel up there quite a bit! I have lived in Green Bay almost all my life; my husband and I got married 2 years ago, we're in our mid-twenties... we enjoy the outdoors, if you guys love the outdoors there are a ton of trails here! =)
