How do I remove potential rust?

Our guest bathtub was really dirty when we bought our house. I've cleaned it thoroughly but there are 2 spots I just can't remove. I assume it is rust, but I'm not sure. I've tried Comet, Awesome, and a rust cleaner I found at Lowe's. Any other suggestions?

Re: How do I remove potential rust?

  • Bar Keepers Friend and some elbow grease! Make a paste out of the cleanser w/some water and leave it on the stain for a few minutes, then scrub clean!

If it's porcelain, wet pumice stone has worked for some of the rust on my old fixtures.  I think it will scratch fiberglass though.

  • Thanks! I have some BKF at home, but it's already a paste that comes in a squirt bottle. I use it for my pots & pans. I'll definitely give it a shot!

That paste BKF doesn't work well on stains.  I picked one up when my store was out of the powder; never again.
