Help with 80's theme party

Having a last minute 80's themed birthday party for my sister law when I go home to visit Massachusetts in 3 weeks. I know google is full of ideas but I was hoping you ladies had some more! I'll take any help I can get :)

Re: Help with 80's theme party

  • I have the best idea! Go to Wendy's hamburger place and get lots of 99cent burgers. Make a sign that says "where's the beef?" Label a styrofoam cool with sign and store burgers in there to keep warm. This was a HUGE hit at the last 80's party I went to...

I'm not sure I totally get the wendy's thing...but, for 80's I would do lots of neon colors. See if you can order some fun plastic sun glasses for everyone to wear. (it won't let me hyperlink....)

Maybe put out lots of 80's candy..pop rocks, ring pops, candy necklaces?

Slap bracelets are making a comeback...maybe have some of those out?

You can have your favorite 80's movie playing in the background...16 Candles is my favorite!

Put out some rubix cubes for people to play with.

If I was going to a party I wouldn't be impressed at all if the host just went out and bought a bunch of crappy .99cent burgers from Wendy's.

How many people are you expecting? I think there are a lot of cute food themes/names you can do for an 80's party. Just some ideas are:

Saved by the Bell Peppers- Mini stuffed peppers

Like a Virgin Daquiri (or whatever non-alcoholic drink you serve)

Porky's- Can be for pigs in a blanket or other pork appetizer

Rubik's Cubed Cheese- can be for a cubed cheese display w/ crackers

You can Google around from some more ideas, but it just depends on what you want to make

Obviously make sure you have your essential 80's songs on throughout the party

Pop Rocks would be a cute favor.

  • Maybe I wasn't clear. This was not the main food item at the party at all! It was just a side joke because that was the most popular commercial of the 80's. "Where's the beef?" with the old lady for Wendy's. However, funny thing, the only food item that was completely gone ended up being the hamburgers! It think after lots of dancing and drinks the guys gobbled them up... Also Cost Plus has pre-packaged 80's candies bags. Very cute!

Ahhhh, as a side item in moderation.... cute. From your post I thought you meant that was the only food there. Yikes!

I will admit, a .99 Wendy;s burger has been my 2am drunk food many a time Embarrassed
